Things That Creep Me Out

Posted by Ann on August 30th, 2008

Old Xanga.com Post 5/6/02:

I compiled a list of things that creep me out:

  1. Mariah Carey’s boobs. no i am not jealous of it. I don’t know if they are real or fake and I don’t care. All I know is that its way to far apart to be normal. It’s almost alien-like….
  2. Hospitals. Its too clean, way too clean.
  3. Confined spaces with no windows. I would get paranoid.
  4. Really pale people with dark circles under their eyes. they look like zombies. Nuff’ said.

My thoughts on this post Today:

  1. Mariah Carey’s boobs don’t creep me out as much anymore. Partially because I haven’t been too caught up with the here and now of MTV or HipHip music in general, and partially because I think her star has fallen and just isn’t as popular anymore with less appearances on TV and no one seems to care about her anymore.
  2. Hospitals still do creep me out, not because they’re too clean, but more so the chemically smell associated with hospitals.
  3. I’m okay with confined spaces with no windows now -so long as I’m not stuck in said confined spaces with no windows with someone who smells or is just plain annoying.
  4. Really pale people with dark circles under their eyes still really creep me out. It’s just me going against the majority of Asian cultures that consider lighter skin tones as more “beautiful” or “pure.” Bullocks. I think really pale people just look unhealthy, and unhealthy is unattractive to me.

Additional things that creep me out:

  1. Bugs. Yes. Bugs.
  2. Decrepit old white men. Think John McCain, and you’ll know what I mean.
  3. Religious people. I mostly feel bad but sometimes, their zeal and the “crazy person” glint in their eyes scare the shit out of me.

Sarah Palin: One Cunt to Rule Them All

Posted by Ann on August 29th, 2008

Sarah Palin: One Cunt to Rule Them AllSo John McCain announces today that Sarah Palin will be his running mate as VP.

Its a damn tacky move for McCain and the Republicans to think that they can cater to the disgruntled Hillary supporters by offering women a brand new vagina to vote on. You can damn well believe that’s how the McCain camp sees it, even if they are not going to say it out loud.

As a feminist, I find that line of thought extremely insulting.

As an Independant, I find it laughable that they chose her.

Yes, it’s nice that the Republicans finally have a woman in their presidential ticket, but its not because she actually has experience in public office, its more so because she has a cunt and they think that if they have a cunt, the rest will follow right?

I apologize for repeating the same concept using different words, but I just can’t get past it.

She’s a novelty, a prize pig at the fair, and McCain’s betting his farm on her.

I know I’m not like most women out there, concerned with pretty frilly things or of having a family and how genius my dumb child is. I am an intelligent, focused, cynical bitch and I am damn proud of it.

But I really, really, REALLY hope that most women that the McCain and Palin ticket are catering to will be able to see through the shallow novelty of their act and vote for the best people with the best plan for the country.

Old Xanga.com Post 4/30/02:

A funny, funny story:

God was just about done creating the universe but he had two extra things left over in his bag so he decided to split them between Adam and Eve.

He told them that one of the things he had left was a thing that would allow the owner to pee while standing up. “It’s a very handy thing,” God told them, “and I was wondering if either one of you would like that.”

Adam jumped up and down and begged, “Oh, give that to me! I’d love to be able to do that.” On and on he went like an excited little boy. Eve smiled and told God that if Adam really wanted it so badly, he should have it.

So God gave it to Adam. He was so excited he went off to write his name in the sand, laughing with delight all the while.

God and Eve watched him for a moment and then God said to Eve, “Well, here’s the other thing and I guess you can have it.” “What’s it called?” Eve asked.

“Brains.” God said.

Thoughts on this post today:

This was my second ever entry during freshman year of college. I’m not sure if I actually wrote the entry or if I found it somewhere online. I think I found it somewhere and just posted it to make me seem interesting.

The old posts that refer to God in any way make me laugh a little, because things have changed so drastically in my theological beliefs. But that aside, I was still the same me, albeit with a weaker personality back then, but I could see in me the budding feminist that is developing in posting up entries like this.

Trouble Indexing with Website Baker

Posted by Ann on August 12th, 2008

You heard me. I’m having a damn hard time even trying to index a site with Website Baker 2.7.

I actually installed the CMS on to the server at the very beginning of the summer (maybe April-ish) with the site content organized and about 80% written up to be posted that very day. I customized the template and added the finishing touches from then til now and I can say its finally complete with some content, a gallery, sitemap, and contact form -very basic stuff.

But!

The damn thing hasn’t been indexed yet! This is actually my first real attempt at using Website Baker as a CMS and after adding in content week after week to finish up the site, not seeing it index at all is pissing me off!

Mastering Wordpress

Or something like that.

The Wordpress logo

I started looking into WP about the same time last year. At that time I was getting into Website Baker and Joomla! and I thought I’d give WP as a CMS a try as well. I signed up for a WordPress.com account and even manually installed it on one of my domains just to go through the motions.

Now, I’ve seen people do some amazing things with it, but when I tried to navigate the interface, it confused the hell out of me. I wanted to do the same things those people did and I hadn’t the slightest clue how. But that’s typical of me, getting ahead of myself and then becoming frustrated when things don’t happen fast enough.

So I left WP alone for a long while. I did make the arbitrary posts here and there, mainly as an attempt to motivate myself. That never really worked -until now, I suppose. Read the rest of this entry »
